Independence to both countries was a step to the future, but rural parts of India and its new neighbor didn’t understand this new concept. Khuswant Singh captures the plight of people living in a village named Mano Majra - located on the border of India and Pakistan. Partition is probably one of the most dreadful events in Indian history, and I believe the same is true for our neighbor’s past as well. Train to Pakistan is set up in a rural village of India, which deals with two newly independent countries India and Pakistan.
